The production of research data is booming, but how can it be managed most effectively Good data management starts with planning, which is the first step in the research data life cycle. Planning can be done with a Data Management Plan (DMP). By setting up a DMP, you outline what data will be produced and how it will be handled, preserved, and shared. As a formal document, a DMP benefits researchers and local organizations ensuring FAIRness and policy compliance.

Jimena Linares is a Data Steward at the German Federation for Biological Data (GFBio e.V.), which is a partner of the NFDI4Biodiversity consortium. She works in data curation of molecular data in the submission service and provides support in research data management services as Data Management Officer.
