GfBS Annual Meeting 2025: Barbara Ebert on Data Infrastructures for Biodiversity Research
Organisation: Gesellschaft für Biologische Systematik (GfBS)
The Gesellschaft für Biologische Systematik (GfBS) will host its 2025 Annual Meeting in Hamburg from May 29 to June 1. With keynote lectures by Elizabeth Joyce, Nancy Mercado Salas, and Jonas Zimmermann, the event will bring together researchers working on the systematics, diversity, and evolution of organisms.
Barbara Ebert (NFDI4Biodiversity) will contribute a talk highlighting how the National Research Data Infrastructure for Biodiversity, Ecology and Environmental Data is advancing data accessibility in the life sciences. Her presentation will focus on collaborative approaches, services, and use cases that help establish best practices and blueprints for handling key types of biological data—ranging from collection records and species observations to trait data, ontologies, and molecular (-omics) information.
Using concrete examples, she will illustrate how research communities and IT infrastructures can jointly generate added value—particularly for taxonomy and related fields.
