Expert Workshop on GBIF Data Publication in Africa with a Focus on Data Papers

This Expert Workshop on GBIF Data Publication in Africa will unite biodiversity data providers, young environmental scientists, and conservation professionals to enhance data publication practices. Participants will explore the integration of occurrence data and discuss the endorsement of ITCER as a GBIF data publisher.

The Workshop focuses on improving biodiversity data sharing across the continent. Bringing together key stakeholders, including environmental scientists and nature conservationists, the workshop will address data publication strategies using GBIF frameworks. Participants will discuss existing data pipelines, the publication of a GBIF data paper, and best practices for managing occurrence data. The outcome will be the establishment of ITCER as an endorsed data publishing organization, facilitating future biodiversity data mobilization efforts in Africa.
